Moving Diversity Forward
at the University of Maryland

“We will promote a campus climate based on fairness, equity, and
diversity in all our policies, procedures, and activities.”
-The Strategic Plan for the University of Maryland, May 2008

The Draft Diversity Plan is available here.

Please submit additional recomendations by Monday, November 30.

Please take a moment to reflect on what is in your heart and mind when the issue of diversity arises at the University. With that in mind, please take a moment to answer one or more of the following questions:
  1. What would you like to have included in the Diversity Plan? How would your suggestion be measured?

  2. What are one or two concrete actions that would actualize what you want to see happen?

  3. What questions do you have for the Diversity Steering Committee? How can this process be more transparent?

Recommendations from the March Forum are now available here.

The Provost, Equity Council, and Diversity Plan Steering Committee thank all of you who participated in the April 14 Diversity Forum. We appreciate you taking the time to share your helpful recommendations with us. Please know that your suggestions will be considered in the development of the upcoming Diversity Plan Draft. Moving Diversity Forward is a campus venture, and we need your help to continue making progress.

As you may know, we are working diligently to compile the recommendations we received during the forum. The information we have collected will be available on this site by Friday, April 24. We would also like to provide an opportunity for additional recommendations via the form at the bottom of this page.

Please continue to check this site for the most current information on the progress of the Diversity Plan Steering Committee and for information on the October 27 conference.
