The University of Maryland recently completed a comprehensive strategic planning process that produced an extensive and ambitious ten year Strategic Plan. An important element of this plan is its focus on promoting diversity and inclusiveness in all aspects of University life. Many of the goals outlined in the plan are long term goals. However, there are several “year one” goals related to diversity and inclusion.The year one goals are:
Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost, Nariman Farvardin, has asked Robert Waters, Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs and Assistant to the President, to lead a University Diversity Plan Steering Committee composed of student, staff and faculty members to guide the institution in reaching these goals.
