Dear Students:
On behalf of the Inauguration Committee, I am very pleased to invite you to participate in the inauguration of Dr. Wallace D. Loh as the President of the University of Maryland.
Dr. Loh will be formally installed as president on Thursday, April 28, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. in the Dekelboum Concert Hall of the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center. This will be an occasion to celebrate the University's accomplishments and mark a new chapter in Maryland's history. The installation ceremony is part of an extensive array of inauguration events. A list of all activities can be found at www.president.umd.edu/inauguration.
If you plan to attend the ceremony, please email the Office of Special Events (events@ur.umd.edu) with your name and phone number. Upon receiving an email confirmation, you must pick up your tickets from the Office of Special Events, room 3143 in the Samuel Riggs IV Alumni Center, by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 26. All unclaimed tickets will be redistributed to the general public. Tickets are limited and will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
Guests who require disability or special accommodations (such as accessible seating, disability parking, or sign language interpreters) should contact the Office of Special Events ((events@ur.umd.edu) with any requests or questions.
The ceremony will be streamed live on the Internet and broadcast live on UMTV. Please log onto the University's home page (www.umd.edu) on April 28 to access the video.
The entire university community is invited to the inaugural reception on April 28 from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. in Orem Alumni Hall on the lower level of the Samuel Riggs IV Alumni Center. You are welcome to attend the reception even if you are not attending the ceremony. No tickets are required for the reception.
The formal installation of our new president provides a special opportunity for members of the university community to come together in celebrating our past and affirming our hope of an even brighter future. We invite you to take part in this very important occasion.
Sincerely,
