Rankings
And rankings are another indicator. The Academic Ranking
of World Universities places us 37th in the world and
12th among U.S. Publics.
Our field rankings for engineering
and computer sciences, natural sciences and mathematics,
and for social sciences are bracketed by 13th and 23rd
worldwide and 5th and 10th among U.S. publics. The bias
of the ARWU is to favor large, strong research universities
like this university. As such the rankings are not bad.
