A Bold New Collaboration to Leverage UMD and UMB Resources

We are writing to inform you that the University System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents today approved an innovative and structured collaboration between the University of Maryland, College Park (UMCP) and the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) called the University of Maryland: MPowering the State.

President Loh’s Asia Trip

I would like to share with you the results of a recent, one-week visit to Taiwan and South Korea. I led a small delegation of faculty, deans, and staff to "show the flag" of the University of Maryland. We met with top government officials and university presidents.

MPower Sparks Innovation

We are writing to inform you of the latest positive development in the University of Maryland: MPowering the State initiative between the University of Maryland, College Park (UMCP) and the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB). Today we are pleased to announce that James L. Hughes, MBA, chief enterprise and economic development officer and vice president at UMB, has been named director of UM Ventures, the ambitious joint research commercialization effort of the two universities and a central part of Powering the State. 

Maryland To Join B1G 10 Conference

I am pleased to announce that the Board of Regents of the University System of Maryland has endorsed strongly our application to join the Big Ten conference, starting in academic year 2014-15.
